Iron and Pregnancy

Easily absorbable and well-tolerated for preconception and beyond
Pregnant women often worry about anemia since iron is crucial for their own well-being and the health of their baby during pregnancy. Although it's recommended for most women to take iron supplements while pregnant, we realize that iron requirements, dosage, and tolerance differ significantly among individuals. That's why we've excluded iron from our Women's Prenatal and, instead, created a personalized iron solution for those who do need it.
Our Iron Bump was crafted for optimal absorption and comfort, supporting healthy iron levels and blood volume expansion during pregnancy and beyond.* With glycine-bound iron and 25mg per capsule, you can tailor your daily intake to suit your individual needs.
Iron is necessary for healthy blood and oxygen transportation, especially during pregnancy when blood volume increases.* It also helps with proper thyroid functioning, development of the placenta, and energy metabolism.* During postpartum, iron is necessary to replenish the blood that may have been lost during delivery and the normal phase of bleeding called lochia, which can last for several weeks.*
Anemia is often underdiagnosed and can have multiple underlying causes, such as poor iron absorption, vitamin deficiencies (e.g., vitamin B12 or folate), chronic diseases, genetic conditions, or increased iron requirements. If left untreated, it can result in various health problems, like fatigue, weakness, shortness of breath, and shifts in mood as the body struggles to provide enough oxygen to its tissues. Low iron levels in moms-to-be can also impact baby's growth and brain development, with studies showing that low iron levels in newborns increase their risk of iron deficiency anemia.* This is why prioritizing adequate iron intake before trying to conceive and during pregnancy is crucial.
Iron Bump isn't just a supplement; it's a solution meticulously created for those who struggle to maintain optimal iron levels. We've harnessed the power of iron bisglycinate, a gentle on-the-stomach and non-constipating form of iron, to ensure better tolerance and compliance.* Our innovative formula also contains vitamin C from acerola cherries in a well-studied 2:1 ratio, plus our digestive comfort blend of whole food nutrients to help with digestive ease.*
Vitamin C plays a key role in enhancing iron absorption by creating an acidic environment in the digestive tract.* This helps prevent iron from oxidizing and transforms it into a form your body can easily absorb, ensuring you get the most out of your iron intake.* We've chosen a science-backed 2:1 ratio of vitamin C from acerola cherries to iron. This combo boosts how well your body absorbs iron and even fights against things like calcium, phosphate, tannins, and phytates that can sometimes block iron from getting absorbed.*
Our unique digestive comfort blend is carefully crafted to support a comfortable and gentle digestive experience.* It features organic whole foods and botanicals like beetroot, broccoli, carrot, dandelion, and nettle, all working together to enhance your digestive well-being.*

The serving size is just 1 small, easy-to-swallow capsule daily. Each bottle contains 30 capsules, giving you a one-month supply. Your health practitioner may suggest a custom dose for you. Always defer to your qualified health practitioner’s recommendation.
We recommend taking Iron Bump away from your prenatal. Below is an example schedule:
Iron w/ Prenatal
9:00am Prenatal + Fish Oil
12:00pm Iron Bump (1 hour before eating or 2 hours after eating, preferably)
5:00pm Prenatal
Take one capsule with or without food earlier in the day away from your prenatal.
Iron Bump is ideally taken on an empty stomach, at least an hour before meals or 2 hours after, as many foods and drinks contain inhibitors of iron absorption.* Digestive discomfort is rare, but if this does happen, take Iron Bump with a meal or snack. Iron absorption is reduced by milk, calcium, and magnesium products and by proton pump inhibitors. Also, coffee, tea, and cereal products negatively affect the uptake of iron.
Different formulas often require different forms of nutrients. In this case, Ascorbic Acid was the most well-researched and well-sized form of vitamin C for our comprehensive Prenatal formula. For Iron Bump, we chose a vitamin C from Acerola fruit extract without reducing the serving size or compromising the overall formula.
