The 2022 FullWell Gift Guide: Pregnancy Edition

The 2022 FullWell Gift Guide: Pregnancy Edition

Compiled, researched, and tested by the FullWell Team

Welcome to the second installment in our three-part gift guide series! We’ve spent all of 2022 picking and choosing our favorite picks of the best products for every stage of fertility for ALL of the men and women in your life. There’s no way you’ll make it through the end of our guides without some goodies for your loved ones! When it comes to pregnancy, we know our community is extra careful to choose products that don’t just support pregnancy but avoid problematic ingredients.

clean beauty

If you follow us on social, you know that we are always looking for new beauty products for you: preferably ones that score exceptionally well with the EWG. An inside-out approach to beauty will always be the best way to support hair, skin, and nails, but the outside-in approach can be helpful (and fun!) if you pick the right products. Here is what we are loving right now for pregnancy.

Chelsea, our operations guru, swears by Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint. Not only does this pseudo-foundation cover your face in a clean tint of light, dewy coverage, mineral SPF, and active levels of clutch skincare ingredients, but it’s also garnered some attention for being as clean and eco-friendly as it is functional.

super goop

It’s 2022. We all know sun damage is real and easy to come by if you’re not protecting your skin daily with a clean SPF. But when you’re pregnant, it can feel like a chore to slather anything on your skin. That’s why we love Super Goop’s Unseen Sunscreen. This antioxidant-rich, oil-free formula is light, clear, and scentless (a big plus as the senses start to heighten!). It provides a velvety finish that primes the face for makeup if desired while protecting skin with broad spectrum SPF 40. Pair it with Play Lip Balm with SPF 30 for full sun coverage and dewy moisture.

acure dry shampoo

There seem to be two camps of people: the “I love squeaky clean hair” crew and the “I could probably get away with not washing it for another day or two” team. Whichever you or your loved ones fall into, we aren’t here to judge. So many folks on Team FullWell push that full wash that we’ve developed a deeply meaningful love story with Acure Dry Shampoo Powder over the years. It’s portable, easy to use, fast-acting, and it absorbs oil and grime without completely drying you out. From an ethics standpoint, we also get down with the fact that it’s 100% VEGAN and free of gross stuff that works its way into aerosol varieties like parabens, sulfates, mineral oils, petrolatum, and formaldehyde.

herbs and supplements

When it comes to pregnancy, a whole-food-based diet is vital for getting the nourishment needed for mom and baby. But with so much lacking in the modern food system, many pregnant women will likely need to supplement micronutrients and minerals well beyond the standard requirements for pregnancy, like folate and vitamin D. Luckily, there are some easy ways to make it happen that can even make great gifts!

herbal tea

If you’ve followed FullWell from the beginning, you know that our Founder, Ayla Barmmer MS, RD, LDN is also an expert herbalist. She has been known to send beautiful care packages to the team for big occasions: weddings, babies, birthdays, you name it. She’s always got something thoughtful and practical up her sleeve. A great gift to make and give to many loved ones is a blend of your favorite herbs for teas, along with a loose-leaf tea strainer. First, we choose the ingredients we’d like to blend from our tried and true list of pregnancy-safe herbs (Ayla's favorite is nettle!). Then, we order bulk from sites like Mountain Rose Herbs and pick our packaging. Finally, we’ll snag some strainers and divide them to complete the gift! This highly original gift is perfect for your friends in groups and clubs and is sure to make them feel special.

fullwell prenatal bundle

We exist to provide unparalleled coverage for micronutrients for women as they grow and nurture a new life. Our comprehensive prenatal vitamin and mineral complex pairs perfectly with our Fish Oil + DHA for all the essential fatty acids needed for a healthy pregnancy. We know it might feel a little weird to throw supplement bottles into a gift box, which is why we made it so that when you go for a monthly subscription for yourself or your loved one, you save 15%! Our prenatal bundle is an impeccably practical gift for expectant mothers, making their health and daily routine a little bit easier.

In the folds

For those who love sewing and crafting, these In the Folds patterns are a creative present. Mamas-to-be who love a project can select their fabrics and create clothes just for them as their bodies change throughout pregnancy.

Christy Dawn

Christy Dawn prides herself on honoring mother earth by taking a “farm-to-closet” approach to her garments. We love that her mission intertwines with ours and that her business is founded on the truth that we are all related, interconnected parts of a greater whole. With a wide array of comfortable fashions that are more maternity-friendly than straight-up maternity wear, a recipient of a Christy Dawn outfit will likely be able to enjoy their new clothes long after baby is born. Plus, their unique upcycled gift wrapping is adorable!

wellow socks

According to Wellow (and, um, many pregnant women), compression socks are a simple, everyday habit that can make women more comfortable during pregnancy. Wellow's soft Bamboo Compression Socks are stretchy and breathable, essential for expectant mothers whose body temperatures are constantly in flux. The best thing about this natural fabric is that it’s inherently moisture-wicking, keeping mama’s feet cool, dry, and not-as-smelly-if-that’s-something-she-deals-with.

For your gym freak friends who fear losing their fitness during pregnancy, we’ve got news for you: you can get STRONGER during pregnancy. It’s all just a matter of doing it safely. We are in the works to bring you some exclusive prenatal fitness content soon, but we can also recommend BIRTHFIT’S Prenatal Plan without hesitation. BIRTHFIT has been a leader in safe, effective prenatal exercise for almost a decade, providing strength and conditioning training for pregnancy that will allow mamas to feel like they are stepping into their power rather than trying to keep up with it.

Real Food for Pregnancy

It’s no secret that we are huge fans of Lily Nichols, RD, LDN. She’s never been afraid to call out traditional nutrition norms for being dusty and outdated and is always at the forefront of bringing her readers the most cutting-edge research. Real Food for Pregnancy takes prenatal nutrition myths and dispels them with science-backed facts and meticulous research while providing an easy-to-follow action plan for making individualized food and lifestyle choices during pregnancy. If we’re being honest, none of us on the FullWell Team are currently pregnant, but we still cook out of this book all the time.

Doula Deck

Doula Lori Bregman turned her 20 years of experience into a collection of daily meditations, exercises, and affirmations that will carry mamas through pregnancy, birth, and the early days of motherhood. This is a great stocking stuffer to snag for pregnant folks who need a reminder to slow down and set aside time for self-care.

FullWell Team Member Julianka is a big fan of Leitz Eins Zwei Zero Non-Alcoholic Wines during those festive occasions that make avoiding alcohol feel like more of a challenge. Known for being one of the finest wine producers in the country, Weinguit Eins Leitz brings clean, fresh flavors to those who loved to unwind with a glass of wine prior to pregnancy.
